Pro-Glow film is a non-radioactive chemical light source incorporated into a flexible vinyl film that glows in total darkness after exposure to artificial or natural light. The film represents an advanced form of phosphorescence characterised by an initial glow considerably higher than that previously achieved. Produced with a pressure-sensitive adhesive, the film can be readily applied to most rigid surfaces to serve as an instantaneous locating device and/or an instant guidance system for evacuating personnel under conditions of an electrical power failure. Moreover, Pro-Glow film is sufficiently conspicuous to serve normal day to day function, non-emergency conditions, i.e. for directional markings, hazard warnings and text for instructions & procedures. Under certain conditions, the material offers interesting applications in the field of graphics arts such as vehicle logos, bus posters, track numerals etc

LUMINOSITY


Pro-Glow series 4100 and 4400 CLL is neither electrically nor radioactively excited, and the intensity of its light radiance diminishes on a pattern of two phases on a curve chart. In phase one, the glow factor will decay at an accelerated rate and within a half-hour, approximately 80-85% of the brightness value is depleted. However, the human eye is capable of undergoing numerous changes in becoming sensitive to objects in darkness and the average person will become ‘dark adapted’ at a rate that roughly matches this declining light curve. Approximately eight hours is the period of time for phase two of the light curve which remains visible to persons completely ‘dark adapted’. In principle, this chemical light source is designed to absorb energy from any nearby ambient light source such as incandescent light, fluorescent lamps and sunlight. Once the source of extraneous light is shut off, Pro-Glow film immediately emits a light of its own that follows the description above. There is no limit to the number of times the product can be re-charged. Three to ten seconds exposures to light is all that is normally required.
